The following principles and rules are binding for all Kanoa associates.

1. Assignment:

Kanoa does not undertake any assignment if the time provided for the development is not in balance with the required level of change to be accomplished.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if the number of participants are too high for the assignment or if there is no adequate information provided prior to the program.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if it turns out that the program is not the best way to solve the problem of the client and if it cannot provide acceptable alternative ways for the development.
Kanoa refuses the assignment is the program has no real objective besides the strengthening of the inter-company position of the contractor.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if the size of it is over its capacity
Kanoa refuses the assignment if it should be 'purchased'.

2. Behaviour, attitude:

2.1 On site

The Kanoa facilitator does not force participants to execute the tasks, but in case of breaching of contract, the relevant participants may be disqualified from continuing the program with the approval of the contractor.
Kanoa facilitators provide their best efforts and knowledge for achieving the objectives set.
Kanoa facilitators clarify the training objectives with the client and also talks it through and informs participants accordingly.
Kanoa facilitators inform participants on methods used and on alternative ways as well.
Any intervention can be made only by information and approval of the contractor.
All personal contributions during the training are highly confidential and remains within the group.
Training information can be used (e.g. in case studies) only if neither the company nor the participants are recognizable.
Kanoa facilitators avoid any intimacy with participants.
Kanoa facilitators must not use the trainer-participant relationship for gaining personal benefits, or to reach business, political or religious objectives.
Kanoa facilitators insist on reality regarding knowledge, expertise or experience.
Besides training objectives, other details of the contract (e.g. pricing) shall not be disclosed to the participants.
2.2 Other
Kanoa refuses the assignment if it is to develop skills or behaviours differing from its ethical or moral principles.
Kanoa facilitators accept to continuously develop their knowledge through internal and external training, conferences and other ways to provide a state of the art service level.
Kanoa facilitators cannot accept any royalty for mediating assignments to other colleagues or cannot give any royalty to contractors for the assignment.
Kanoa facilitators respect the profession, and do not circulate any negative judgement about others and different methods. They are ready to participate in professional networks or organisations.
Kanoa facilitators provide information to the contractor about participants only with the express approval of the participant.
Kanoa facilitators undertake assignments only if it is within his professional competence.
Kanoa facilitators are responsible for the documentation of the program and for making its findings available to the contractor.

3. Criteria within the organisation of the contractor:

Kanoa refuses the assignment if there is no management support and the training, as an isolated event, does not support reasonable development.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if there are no clear and visible expectations regarding the program and leaders want to use the training company to strengthen inter-company positions.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if leaders want to use the training for a hidden assessment or test of associates.
Kanoa refuses the assignment if participants deny the need for the program and refuse to co-operate.
